Defensive Driving Tips to Practice in Your Asian Auto

Do you know much about defensive driving? Most drivers learn about it in driver’s ed, but over time the lessons can start to fade a bit. The good news is that defensive driving can help you to be safer on the road and it might even reignite some of those good driving habits you used to have. Here’s more from T&T Automotive Service to help you adjust your habits.

Don’t Hurry or Rush While Driving

The more you have to hurry, the less you’re able to practice true defensive driving. You’re less likely to leave yourself and other drivers plenty of room to maneuver in and you’re generally going to be more likely to make mistakes. Pad your commute time and remember that rushing isn’t necessarily going to save you any time.

Look Ahead of Where You’re Driving

The faster you drive, the farther ahead of yourself you need to be looking. That’s because the time and space you have in which to slow down and stop dramatically shortens the faster you’re going and you need to be able to see what you’ve got headed your way. The more you can anticipate, the better your driving experience is going to be.

Be Nice, but Don’t Assume Other Drivers Know What They’re Doing

Deliberately antagonizing other drivers is definitely not the way to win friends and influence people, but it’s also not a great idea to assume that everyone else on the road is willing and able to follow the traffic laws. Be kind, but definitely pay attention and be prepared to take evasive action at a moment’s notice.

Avoid Distractions as Much as Possible

Distractions are a huge problem for drivers. They might make driving less “boring” at times, but they can take your attention off the road at exactly the wrong time. That’s why avoiding distractions should be one of your biggest goals. Take care of anything that would take your hands or eyes off the wheel before you even start the car. And limit anything else that might be distracting, like phone calls. That’s going to improve your chances of driving defensively.

Mechanical issues also interfere with your ability to drive defensively. Don’t get caught up in an accident because of mechanical failure.
